Throughout the expo tournaments will be held in Hearthstone, Rocket League, Soul Calibur VI, Tekken 7, Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. 4. The top three placements in all tournaments will receive cash prizes for a combined $7,500 at minimum. Players’ $10 tournament registration fee will also be added to the final prize pool. “Tournaments are one of the core building blocks of esports. The combination of a love of gaming and a desire for completion bring gamers together in a way that is truly unique,” said TNEA Co-Founder Jared Miller. “Tennessee Esports Alliance was founded with the mission of growing esports in the state of Tennessee and we are thrilled to be able to pursue this mission by holding this tournament in partnership with the Grand Ole Gameroom Expo.”
In 2017 the Grand Ole Gameroom Expo had 1,200 people in attendance and is expected to surpass 2,000 this year.
“We are excited to bring more esports to Tennessee by hosting tournaments at the Grand Ole Gameroom Expo,” said David Corrigan, Owner of Grand Ole Gameroom Expo. “There has been competition in arcade and pinball games from the beginning with people constantly trying to top each other's high scores, and it still goes on today - we host the largest pinball tournament in Tennessee. Esports is an extension of that same competition and we have a full lineup of tournaments this year. We bring together classic and modern gaming and give people the ability to play casually or compete in tournaments at one event.”
The Grand Ole Gameroom Expo will be held November 9th - 11th at Millennium Maxwell House Hotel with esports tournaments hosted by TNEA and sponsored by DreamHack Atlanta and Eluktronics.
